FIU astronomers return from AAS meeting in DC.

In spite of single digit temperatures, FIU was well represented at the AAS meeting in Washington DC this January. Not only did Dr. Webb and Dr. Simpson present their research, but Dr. Webb also presented a poster paper on the Stocker Astroscience Center that drew some positive attention.

Here is a picture of graduate student Sarah Dhalla in front of her and Dr. Webb's research poster.

Finally, after Dr. Webb's suggestion for a couple of years, the AAS held its first "open mic" night on Tuesday. It was a great success, drawing over 300 curious conference attendees, who witnessed everything from an amazing free-style yo- yo exhibition, to free verse poetry to dr. Webb's astronomy music. By all accounts it was an amazing success and will soon become a regular event. (I'll post pictures should some become available.)
