Dr. Fiorella Terenzi will be joining the FIU physics department as a full time physics and astronomy instructor. Dr. Terenzi earned her PhD in Physics from the University of Milan; her thesis involved converting radio observations from distant galaxies to sound, a process called sonification. She then became a leader in popularizing science, writing several bestselling books and recording a best-selling CD of "Galaxy music." She went on to appear on numerous talk shows and a busy lecture circuit. Time magazine described her as "a cross between Carl Sagan and Madonna." Lately, she has turned her attention to teaching in a college setting; her latest position was at Brevard Community College.
"I am so excited about Dr. Terenzi joining us here at FIU, with the new Stocker AstroScience Center being built, this is a great time for our department to add an excellent teacher and leader in the field of public outreach for Astronomy and Physics." Dr. Webb says.
