Solar Viewing at Stocker Astroscience center

We will set up our telescopes with Solar Filters to observe the Sun. Everyone is welcome to look safely at our nearest Star the Sun. This event is weather permitting of course.

Nobel Laureate, John C. Mather, Ph.D. Senior Astrophysicist, NASA’s Goddard Space Flight Center, Greenbelt, MD Senior Project Scientist, James Webb Space Telescope The history of the universe in a nutshell, from the Big Bang to now, and on to the future – Mather will tell the story of how we got here, how the universe began with a Big Bang, how it could have produced an Earth where sentient beings can live, and how those beings are discovering their history.

Music @ Stocker AstroScience Center: Fingerstyle Guitar by Dr. Webb

Dr. James Webb will play a variety of songs on his nylon string guitar fingerstyle. Fingerstyle means a solo guitar plays bass, melody and Rhythm parts simultaneously. Selections include "Across the Universe", "Here Comes the Sun", "Longer Than", and "Night in White Satin". The location will most likely by AHC 170!

Artists include: James Webb and Tom Barnello singing and playing 1970's songs, Italian singer/songwriter Marivana, Miami singer Ted Miller, local folk artist Grant Livingston, Local folk duo Jennings & Keller, and Folk singer extraordinaire Rod McDonald. Rod started this journey with us, playing at the original fundraiser for the center "Guitars under the Stars" back in 2005.

FIU Student Patrick Ford will talk about his bid to be one of the first travelers to the Planet Mars. He will discuss his reasons for wanting to be one of the first interplanetary travelers.

Russell R. Romanella is the director of Safety and Mission Assurance at NASA's John F. Kennedy Space Center in Florida. Mr. Romanella will disucss the status of NASA and it current and future plans for exploration of our Solar System.
